Auburn Tigers vs Virginia Cavaliers Betting Odds & PredictionPublished April 03, 2019
The Auburn Tigers meet the Virginia Cavaliers in the Final Four of the 2019 NCAA tournament at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday night.
The Cavaliers reached the Final Four for the first time since 1984 in beating the Boilermakers, but they left things desperately late in doing so.
A foul on Ty Jerome with just seconds remaining and Purdue three-points ahead gave him a one-and-one opportunity at the free-throw line. Jerome sunk the first, but missed the second, but Mamadi Diakite managed to tip the ball out for freshman guard Kihei Clark in the backcourt. A one-handed, 40-foot pass from Clark to Diakite then saw the latter make a short jumper at the buzzer.
Auburn are in the Final Four for the first time in their history and are attempting to become the first team to win a national title in its initial Final Four appearance since UConn did so 20 years ago.
The Tigers advanced to the sem-final stage when they beat the Kentucky Wildcats 77-71 in OT, while Virginia also required OT in beating the Purdue Boilermakers, 80-75.
The Tigers will be without forward Chuma Okeke against the Cavaliers, having torn his ACL in the final minutes against the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Sweet 16s. His absence didn’t stop them securing victory over the No. 2 seeded Wildcats in the finals of the Midwest Region on Sunday though.
In terms of our NCAA Final Four predictions, the Cavaliers look to have the edge in this game and they are the betting favourites going into it, with their line set at -240 with bet365, while the Tigers odds are +215 with William Hill. Perhaps the best bet to look at if looking for a little extra vale in your wager is for the Cavaliers -5 on the Point Spread at -110 with Betway.
