Texas Tech Red Raiders vs Virginia Cavaliers Betting Odds

The final of the NCAA 2019 tournament at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis will be contested between Texas Tech Red Raiders and Virginia Cavaliers on Monday evening.

The Red Raiders put up another tremendous defensive performance in beating the Michigan State Spartans 61-51 in the Final Four. In doing so they held the State Spartans to 31.9% from the floor, while Matt Mooney did the damage at the other end in matching his season-high with 22 points.

The result was also an endorsement of the recruitment of grinders like himself by Red Raiders’ Coach Chris Beard.

Things were far less straightforward for the Cavaliers, who needed another dramatic finish to beat the Auburn Tigers 63-62, following up their late recovery to see off the Purdue Boilermakers in the Elite Eight.

Auburn celebrations were underway when Kyle Guy’s go-ahead 3-pointer came off the rim on the final buzzer, only for a foul to be called on Samir Doughty for a contact with Guy. So, with just 0.6 seconds remaining, Guy had the opportunity to shoot three free throws with Virginia trailing 62-60.

Despite Auburn coach Bruce Pearl using a 60-second timeout to apply the pressure after the first two were successfully sunk, Guy stayed composed to finish the job.

The controversy had started a couple of seconds earlier, when with approximately 2.8 seconds left on the clock, the Cavaliers’ Ty Jerome should have been called a double dribble.
