Vancouver Canucks vs Calgary Flames Betting Odds & PredictionPublished March 21, 2019
The Vancouver Canucks (31-32-10) meet the Calgary Flames (45-21-7) at the Rogers Arena on Saturday evening in a clash between the longstanding Pacific Division rivals.
The Canucks were due to face the Ottawa Senators on home-ice on the Wednesday evening prior to this game and were actually on a two-game winning run going into that, having won 3-2 in OT on the road at the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday evening. Bo Horvat scored the decisive goal just 16 seconds into overtime.
The Canucks are currently averaging 2.67 Goals per Game, which leaves them tied 26th in the overall NHL standings. Defensively they are allowing 3.10 Goals per Game (17th overall). On an individual basis, Elias Pettersson is the main single source of goals and assists for the Canucks, with 27 and 34 respectively.
The Flames are destined for the playoffs and come into this game on the back of a game on home-ice against the Senators on Thursday evening. Prior to that their last result was a 4-2 win on home-ice against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday evening.
The Flames are averaging 3.56 Goals per Game at present (3rd overall) and allowing 2.79 Goals per Game (10th overall). Like the Canucks, the Flames are heavily reliant on one player for both goals and assists, with Johnny Gaudreau being their leader on both with 35 and 57 respectively.
The Canucks have little left to play for this season, so our NHL prediction certainly have to favour the Flames, who are clearly a class above their opponents anyway. As a consequence, the Flames have to be the tips on the Money Line odds here.
