The weather is beginning to change for the worse in much of North America however it will be a completely different scene down in Albany Bahamas as the Tropical Paradise get set to host the 2017 edition of the Hero World Championship.
This event will feature arguably the who’s who of the PGA community as 18 of the best golfers on the planet will Tee It Up For Real beginning Thursday morning. Granted the modern-day PGA tour stops always feature a top-notch field, this week’s event is especially more buzzworthy as Tiger Woods will be among the players in the field. Woods is arguably the greatest golfer in the modern era and has spent as much time as the world’s number one ranked golfer as the Kardashian family have stolen Hollywood headlines.
For the first time in nearly nine months Tiger Woods will be doing what he enjoys most, playing golf with the elite in the world.
Below are the odds for the favorites to win the Hero World Challenge from Bet365 Sportsbook
Justin Thomas (6.50): There wasn’t a hotter golfer on the planet last year then American Justin Thomas who cemented himself as one of the best young players in the game today. Thomas has begin this year just like he left off having made the cut in both events he’s played this far, and winning his last time out having won the CJ cup at Nine Bridges. Thomas comes in as the favorite this week and Kevin the last 14 months for the 24 year old, there’s no reason to think he is not deserving of the top spot.
Dustin Johnson (6.50): world number one Dustin Johnson comes into this week’s Hero World Challenge tied with fellow American Justin Thomas as favorite to win this event at 6.50 odds. Johnson continues to be arguably the most talented golfer on tour, and as is normally the case for the South Carolina native, if his putter is working then he will definitely be in contention on Sunday. Thursday will Marc the second Tournament of the year for DJ and his first action since a second-place finish at the WGC- HSBC championship on the European tour.
Jordan Spieth (7.00): no surprise here as Jordan Spieth continues to be among the top handful of golfers projected to win every single time he is on the pitch. Former world number one and current world number two, Spieth is looking to make some noise in what will be his first action of the season this weekend. Spieth was a monster last season and should experience even more success on tour this year after redefining his short game in the offseason.
Rickie Fowler (8.50): perennial fan-favorite Rickie Fowler heads into this week looking to build on an impressive showing his first time out which resulted in the second-place finish at the OHL classic just two weeks ago. Fowler continues to put himself in good positions on virtually a weekly basis, however he continues to show the inability to string for consecutive solid rounds of golf together. This kid has all the talent in the world and would not come as a surprise to anyone if he makes that next step this season.
Brooks Koepka (10.00): Brooks Koepka became more of a household name last season after winning the US Open and capturing his first major. Brooks is also making his second start of the season this week and tied Dustin Johnson for second place in the HSBC championship his last time out. Brooksey can be frustrating at times as the veteran 2 or Pro could be at one opposite end of the spectrum to the other on any given week. It will be interesting to see how kepka responds this season after many have claimed his US Open victory at Erin Hills was a fluke.
Justin Rose (11.00): Although this season is still in its infancy, Englishman Justin Rose has been the hottest golfer on tour to date. Rose has played in for events thus far and won two of them. He is also finished inside of the top 10 in the other events that he hasn’t won this year. Rose has always been one of the top tiered golfers on tour however an injury-plagued last two seasons have really put a damper on his place amongst official golf rankings. Justin finally appears to be completely healthy and the results are showing just what this guy is capable of even as he is nearing the ripe old age 40.
