The sparkling new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit Michigan will play host to UFC 218 this Saturday night with an exciting card on the docket and headlined by the main event, a Championship title fight between Max Holloway and Jose Aldo.
The Featherweight championship bout between Holloway and Aldo will be the second bout in 6 months, and for the hawaiian-born Holloway he will be looking to replicate his is Win by technical knockout at UFC 202 in Rio de Janeiro on June 3rd. The Brazilian born Jose Aldo will be looking to exact some Revenge and at age 29 he is staring down the very realistic possibility of three losses in his last four fights. Not to put down the quality of Aldo himself as an opponent, it should be noticed that his last two losses came at the hands of Max Holloway and UFC Superstar Conor McGregor.
According to the most recent betting lines at Bet365 Sportsbook Max Holloway comes in as the substantial favorite paying 1.30 odds to win the match out right. Jose Aldo on the other hand just paying a juicy 3.50 to pull off the upset, and maybe a bit of value play here.
The other key fight that jumps out on the card is the heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou. The Cameroonian born Ngannou is a heavy favorite in this contest paying 1.40 odds for the outright moneyline win while Overeem is paying an 3-1 odds to pull off the upset. Francis will only be fighting his second match of the year when he squares off against Overeem, and will be looking to make it ten consecutive wins. Ngannou has been a monster of late as he’s won each of his last three fights inside of the 2:00 minute mark of the first round.
Overeem, 37, has compiled a hefty 43-15 record over his accomplished career and will be looking to get back on the right side of this as his opponent is one big, tough dude. His last action came back in July when he went the distance against his Brazilian counterpart Fabricio Werdum. A fight in which he won by decision.
